Swing Springfield, a social swing dance club based out of Springfield, MO, promotes swing dancing in the southwest portion of Missouri.

In addition to offering regular opportunities for social swing dancing, they offer regular swing dance classes every week. Trolley’s Bar & Grille right on the square in downtown Springfield, MO hosts the dance club Swing Springfield every Wednesday night where the dance instructors Anne and Andy Walls offer dance classes in west coast swing, east coast swing, hustle, lindy hop, charleston, and nightclub sway (or nightclub two step). In most other social dances, the follower takes what the leader generates and makes it a complete picture. However, she doesn’t actually create anything, that’s the job of the leader. In west coast swing, the follower has the opportunity to take a much more active role in both completing what the man leads in addition to creating new energy on her own to help shape the course of the dance and the ultimate journey through the song.

Swing Springfield offers group west coast swing dance classes, private dance lessons in west coast swing, as well as special west coast swing workshops with professionals from around the nation. Two of the professional dance instructors that have come in to help teach these amazing workshops are Will Carlton and Stevie Young both based in Wichita, Kansas.
